Weather for the week: Daily rain chances, seasonable temperatures

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. I'm more of an overcast kind of person myself, so this gloomy weather is right up my alley. Mostly cloudy skies continue today, and the best storm chances stay south of the state line in Northwest Alabama and Northeast Mississippi. That said, rain chances still remain for Southern Middle Tennessee this afternoon. Rain chances for everyone wrap up around 10 p.m. The sunshine may make periodic appearances throughout the day. Temperatures stay in the mid 80s this afternoon cooling off into the 60s overnight.

Here's a look at how storms may pop up this afternoon. Highest chances are along and south of the Tennessee River. Notice Tuesday afternoon looks just like Monday afternoon. That's because the cold front moving through has become stationary, meaning it's slowed down significantly. Best rain chances Tuesday will be in central Alabama, however I'm going to give a 20% chance for the entire Tennessee Valley viewing area.

By the time we get to Wednesday, Rain chances ramp up and become more widespread. The ECMWF model keeps the bulk of the rain in Alabama, but Tennessee is not out of the woods. Notice rain chances remain Wednesday night into Thursday morning, and continue through the afternoon.

Temperatures remain seasonable through the 7 day forecast, Saturday will be the warmest day because I think it will be the driest with just a stray shower or storm in the afternoon. Depending on model trends with heavy rainfall mid week, we may need to increase rain chances Wednesday and Thursday. We'll keep you posted.
