Warm this weekend. Showers Sunday? Stormy by Midweek

If you've been looking for warmer temperatures to return, you will enjoy this weekend. 70 degree temperatures have returned to portions of the Tennessee Valley this afternoon and they will be areawide for your Saturday. Expect a mix of sun and clouds for your Saturday, with southerly winds helping bump us into the lower 70s pretty much areawide. It will be a great day to get outside and rake leaves, put up some of the Christmas decorations a bit early, or any other outdoor plans you may have.

The next cold front approaches the area on Sunday. Temperatures will still be mind ahead of the front, with highs in the upper 60s to maybe even lower 70s, with mostly cloudy skies. As the front moves across the area, we certainly can't rule out a few scattered showers here and there. Rain will not be widespread or heavy, but a few locations may pick up a little rain. We certainly need it! November has been very dry so far. That front swings through and brings a temporary shot of cooler air to the area for Monday before the next weather system approaches.

A dynamic weather system will come swinging out of the Plains on Tuesday and approaching the Mississippi Valley late Tuesday night and into Wednesday. This will bring a batch of potentially heavy rain and thunderstorms into the area after midnight Tuesday night or especially on Wednesday. A lot of the dynamic and shear related ingredients we look for when determining a severe weather threat will be in place. However, it is looking increasingly likely that the stronger storms may get here before we have time to bring the moisture and instability (fuel for severe storms) into the area. If that is indeed the case, that may help to prevent a severe weather event from happening in our area. We are still several days away, and there is plenty of time for things to change in a less serious or a more serious way. We will continue to analyze the situation and report details as they become more apparent.
Weather for Thanksgiving itself across the Tennessee Valley looks relatively calm, with our area being behind that storm system as it departs. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with afternoon highs in the lower 60s. Then, the next weather system approaches the area by next weekend.
