We had a few severe thunderstorm warnings today, but thankfully no widespread severe weather occurred. The biggest story of the day was the very uneven rainfall amounts. Many areas saw no rain, some areas saw a brief shower, but others picked up 2 to 5 inches of rain. The rainfall winners of the day were areas just outside of Columbia and near Mt. Pleasant Tennessee, where over 4 inches of rain fell. Areas in northern Giles county received almost 4 inches of rain, and areas in northern Lawrence county Tennessee received 2 to 3 inches. Portions of Lauderdale, Colbert and Lawrence counties in Alabama also picked up between 2 and 3 inches of rain today. We will take a look at monthly rainfall totals tomorrow night here on the blog as we close out August. Big thanks to Ben for creating the awesome map below!
