Thunderstorms on the way out. A few showers Friday. Sun and warm weather for Memorial Day Weekend

After a wet and stormy last several days, the final round of heavy rain and widespread storms is now moving out of our viewing area this afternoon. This is happening as a cold front is moving into the area. Drier air is moving in behind the front, and skies are clearing from west to east across our area as the storms exit.

That drier air and lower dewpoints will mean we are able to cool a bit as we head into the overnight. Temperatures drop into the 60s after sunset, and then we will to be sitting in the mid 50s by daybreak on Friday morning! Clouds will wrap back into the area during the day on Friday as the upper-level low moves overhead. We may even see a few sprinkles, areas of drizzle, or even light showers from time to time, but nothing like the rain from the past few days. Afternoon highs tomorrow look to top out in the low to mid 70s.

Then we flip the script as we head into the Memorial Day weekend ahead. The upper-level low shifts east of our area and high pressure becomes established. This means a return to sunshine and warmer temperatures. We will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s for Saturday, mid 80s for Sunday, and near 90 degrees for the first part of next week. After the few isolated showers tomorrow, rain chances don't return to the area again until the middle of next week.
