Spotty storms today, dangerous heat by tomorrow
Good Tuesday to you. Today is the coolest day we will have in the next week or so. So, you better enjoy it. We can thank mostly cloudy skies and spotty storm chances for today's temperatures. Storms will not reach severe levels this afternoon and chances will hang around through midnight. We're not looking at a widespread chance here, just periodic passing pop-ups. Temperatures this afternoon should stay in the mid to upper 80s.
The National Weather Service has already issued a Heat Advisory for the entire Tennessee Valley Weather Channel coverage area.

This advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. through 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Heat indices could reach as high as 109°. I would advise you to stay indoors if you can. If you must be outside for long periods of time, take plenty of breaks in the A/C and drink plenty of water. Be mindful of pets, too. Keep them inside.
Wednesday stays mostly dry with partly cloudy skies. Air temperatures will reach the mid 90s. An approaching front will bring rain chances early Thursday morning. These showers will be spotty- don't expect much in terms of rainfall. Later on Thursday afternoon, there is an additional chance for storms.
After the front moves through Thursday, the Tennessee Valley dries out and warms up. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s. By Sunday, we could see triple digit highs in the afternoon. Thankfully, Thursday's front will knock dew points back a few degrees, making heat indices a touch cooler. However, the hot air rebounds quickly making for a steamy end to the weekend.

Sunshine and high pressure will dominate the end of this week into the beginning of next week. Rain chances will be hard to come by, however I expect a stray storm or two Sunday through Tuesday. Any rain we get will cool us down, even if just for an hour. We'll take it.
