Severe Weather Threatens Region Friday

The Storm Prediction Center has placed southern middle Tennessee and northern Alabama in a Level 1 of 5 risk of severe storms for Friday. This looks to be an afternoon and evening situation where storms develop in the heat of the day; so, being any more detailed than "afternoon and evening" for any specific area just is not possible. The overall severe weather risk is low, but it is not zero. Gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning would be the main threats with a rogue storm or two. However, because these will be forming along a warm front and there will be a bit of wind shear, there is also a little bit of a risk of maybe a spin-up tornado. The tornado risk is very very low, it it is not zero either.
We will be watching things very carefully tomorrow and will have live coverage if any warnings are issued.
