Severe Storms Chances Decrease For Friday

If we can offer any good news early this Friday morning, it is that the Storm Prediction Center's overnight update has moved the Level 1 of 5 risk of severe weather for today down south of our coverage counties.

The risk area now doesn't extend north of the Birmingham metro area down in central Alabama. While we think this is a good call, we still can't 100% rule out a stray severe thunderstorm warning this afternoon or evening because of gusty winds. We will still be watching radar carefully and will let you know if anything misbehaves.

Regardless of any severe weather risk areas, showers and thunderstorms will be pretty likely later today and tonight. Meteorologist Ben Luna will be along this morning with a video forecast update...
