Rain returns tomorrow night into Saturday. Warmer weather is ahead.
After a rather chilly start to the day, temperatures have made a decent improvement across the Tennessee Valley this afternoon. Many of us are sitting in the lower 60s under mostly sunny skies. However, as we look off to the west on satellite imagery this afternoon, clouds are already increasing. These will move into the area overnight ahead of the next weather system that will bring rain and storm chances to the area.
A few widely scattered showers may be as possible as early as Friday morning as clouds and moisture increase across the area. Then, while we stay mostly cloudy during the day, temperatures climb into the mid to upper 60s... some of us even getting near 70 degrees. As we head into the evening and overnight, a batch of heavy rain and storms move into the area and linger through the early morning hours. We catch a break during the late morning on Saturday, with some peaks of sunshine, and then there is the potential for redevelopment of storms during the afternoon hours as we warm into the low to mid 70s and the cold front approaches. As of right now, our area is not outlooked for a severe weather risk, but IF these storms are able to redevelop Saturday afternoon, one or two of them may be strong with heavy rain and gusty winds. They move out going into Saturday evening and overnight, with clearing skies in time for Sunday.

Our warming trend continues right on into next week with highs in the low to mid 70s again on Sundays and into the upper 70s and lower 80s for Monday through Wednesday. It will finally feel like spring out there, with dry conditions sticking around for at least the first portion of next week as well.
Things begin to change again by midweek as another dynamic system moves out of the Plains toward the Mississippi and Tennessee Valley, dragging a cold front toward the area. By Wednesday evening, a line of storms ahead of the front will likely be approaching from the west. It is too far out to determine if there may be a severe weather threat with that, but we will be watching carefully. That moves through, with maybe lingering showers into Thursday morning... and cooler temperatures behind the front with highs back into the 60s.
