Quiet through Saturday. Rain chances return Sunday and Monday. Hotter next week.

It's a beautiful start to our Friday already across the Tennessee Valley with mostly clear skies setting us up for a beautiful sunrise. Temperatures this morning are starting out very comfortably, in the mid to upper 60s areawide. Any significant cloud cover or rain activity has been pushed well south and east of our area, from the Gulf Coast to the Carolinas.

Skies stay sunny to mostly sunny as we head through our Friday. Daytime highs look to climb into the low to mid 90s by afternoon, with heat index values in the mid to upper 90s. We stay dry for our Friday, with no rain chances to speak of across our local area.

Things do start to change as we head into the weekend though, but it will take a little bit to do so. Saturday looks like another mainly dry and mostly sunny day across the Valley. Temperatures will be a couple degrees warmer though, in the mid 90s for most everyone. Rain chances start to creep back as early as the afternoon on Sunday, but Sunday night into Monday is the most likely period for a more widespread threat of showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall may be locally heavy at times, and many of us may pick up another solid inch or more of rain as the storms move through. Daily hit-and-miss storm chances will stick with us going well into next week. Unfortunately, it looks like the heat returns next week as well. Heat index values start climbing into the lower 100s by Tuesday and Wednesday, and actual daytime highs might be at that level by the end of next week!
