Cloudy today. Increasing sun through the week. Summer preview by the weekend!

Clouds are across the Valley today in abundance. Mostly overcast skies are seen from all of our SkyTrack cameras across North Alabama and Southern Middle Tennessee today, and this will continue through tonight and much of Tuesday as well. Despite this, temperatures are warm this afternoon, with most of us in the mid to upper 70s.

Most of the rain is hanging off to our west this afternoon, but I can't rule out a sprinkle or shower this afternoon or tonight, and I can't rule out a few showers or maybe even an isolated thundershower for Tuesday. Having said that, most of the rain will stay off to our west, and then, this outside chance will be the only rain chances we see for at least the next seven days, if not beyond that.

As we head into the second half of the week and especially the weekend, a big ridge of high pressure will build into place across the eastern United States as an omega block sets up across the Northern Hemisphere. This means a pattern that supports warmer weather gets into place and then it stays in place for the next several days. Highs will get further and further through the 80s as we head through the week, and then we look to get near 90 degrees or into the lower 90s in time for the weekend! This will be a great weekend to fire up the grill, get outside and do some outdoor activities, maybe jump in the pool, grab a popsicle from the freezer (I'm planning on making some homemade ones Sunday myself!)...
