A wet weather pattern settles in for the next several days.

Happy Friday! We'll hold onto mostly cloudy skies and the rest of the day holds a chance for a few passing light rain showers. Temperatures will stay fairly stagnant throughout the evening due to cloud cover and rain chances will ramp up around midnight and beyond, into Sat AM.

While the rain will eventually come to an end Saturday afternoon leaving the evening dry,

there will be plenty more to follow. Rain chances return Sunday afternoon, but widespread rain and possibly a few thunderstorms will move through the Tennessee Valley Monday night through Wednesday morning. It won't rain non-stop and there will be a few breaks, but we could see several inches of rain when it's all said and done. For the rest of today, again just a few spotty showers will be all we have to worry about. Shower activity picks up after midnight and the rainfall clears out by midday.

Several additional rounds of rain are expected through the end of next week. The heaviest rain will arrive Monday night into Tuesday morning. Rain chances remain through the week.

I could certainly see the Tennessee Valley receiving 2-4 inches of rain through Thursday morning. It looks like the heaviest rainfall totals are along the AL/TN state line and Highway 64. The axis of heaviest rainfall may still shift north or south, as this system is a few days out.

I can't rule out a few thunderstorms embedded in some of these masses of rain showers but we're not talking any widespread thunderstorm or severe weather events in the next 7 days. Temperatures during the day and overnight will not be too different from one another as we maintain a cloud deck overnight, with several overnight rain chances as well.
